Managing Debt and Improving Credit Score
On May 30, 2026, the Philippine Centre Canada welcomed community members to Cours Bayview Yards for Workshop #2 of our Financial Literacy Series, Managing Debt and Improving Credit Score.
Facilitated by Elsa Sabas, the workshop focused on helping participants better understand their finances and build practical strategies for managing debt and improving their credit score.
Participants explored:
Budgeting and cash flow planning
Tracking income, expenses, and debt
Debt repayment strategies, including the Snowball and Avalanche methods
Understanding credit reports and credit scores
Practical ways to build healthy financial habits
Resources and options available when facing financial challenges
One of the highlights of the workshop was the active participation from attendees. Through discussions, questions, and shared experiences, participants learned not only from the presentation but also from one another.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many shared that they felt more confident managing their finances after the session and appreciated the practical and easy-to-understand information.
Some participant feedback included:
"It was very interactive."
"Highly informative, engaging and well organized."
"The sharing of other participants was valuable."
We are also pleased to share that all survey respondents indicated they would recommend the workshop to others, and nearly all expressed interest in attending future sessions in the series.
Thank you to Elsa Sabas for sharing her knowledge and expertise, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. We look forward to continuing these important conversations and supporting financial literacy within our community.
