Education & Capacity Building
To implement and provide relevant educational and capacity-building programs and opportunities that enhance the ability of the Filipino-Canadian community and other immigrant communities to engage and contribute meaningfully to Canadian society.
Programs for Youth
Filipino-Canadian Youth Civic Engagement Lab
A program that aims to enhance awareness among FilCan youth on the importance of civic engagement, and support their civic engagement initiatives through a micro-grant, training on project proposal-making, budgeting and expense monitoring, and mentoring. Brief descriptions of each of the 15 micro-grant-funded youth initiatives are found in the News’s section. Funded by the Canada Service Corps of the ESDC.
Promoting Youth Mental Health Through Art and Music
A program to promote mental health and well-being of Filipino-Canadian youth through art and music workshops facilitated by artists and counselors. Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada through the Canadian Red Cross.
Building Youth Resilience During the COVID-19 Pandemic
A response to mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program aimed to build youth resilience and for them to explore entrepreneurship as a future option. Activities involved webinars on building resilience and making identity work for Filipino-Canadian youth, and virtual coaching of young Filipino-Canadian entrepreneurs in strengthening their business start-ups. Funded by the ESDC’s Emergency Community Support Fund through the Canadian Red Cross.
Young Professionals Network
A networking community that aims to empower young Filipino-Canadians to excel in their fields by connecting them to relevant events, sharing opportunities around the National Capital Region (NCR), and finding new ways to support each other.
Programs for Seniors
Digital Literacy Training
A series of lessons for Filipino-Canadian seniors on how to use their electronic gadgets (smartphones, tablets, computers) to communicate with their families, friends, neighbors, and former colleagues in Canada, in the Philippines, and other countries. Seniors also learned how to use these electronic devices to research and find information on the internet, and for some, to do online banking. The lessons were conducted by youth members of the Filipino-Canadian community. Funded by the ESDC through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Healthy Aging in Place
A series of seminar-workshops on ten topics identified by seniors related to physical and mental health, physical safety and financial security, and healthy relationships with family. Discussions were led by resource speakers and facilitators who were experts in the seniors’ topics of interest.
Mitigating Social Isolation by Telephonic Group Interaction
Small groups (5-10) of seniors (Filipino and non-Filipino) shared stories, played games, and learned from each other through telephonic interaction using the manual produced by the Seniors Centres Without Walls network. Funded by the Ontario provincial government through the Older Adults Centres Association of Ontario.

Linking Newcomers to Relevant Resources (Information and Service Agencies)
The RESOURCES folder of this website shows a list of resources, specifically, links to information from the government, nonprofits, and private sector service agencies that newcomers coming from various countries (and not just the Philippines) may use, refer to, and avail of to facilitate their integration in Canada. PCC updates this list periodically.
Programs for All
Financial Literacy Toward Financial Stability
A series of seminar-workshops on topics related to financial literacy that are open to ALL, but especially to members of immigrant communities, including Filipino, and specifically to those in the caregiving occupations. Topics include setting financial goals, saving and budgeting, investing, enhancing financial security through Wills and Powers of Attorney, and entrepreneurship as a livelihood alternative. Funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Heritage and Culture
To promote Filipino heritage and culture within the broader Canadian society and especially among the youth and second generation Filipino-Canadians. Also, to support initiatives of Filipino-Canadian artists across Canada in the expression of their art through performances, exhibits, and lectures.
June: Philippine Heritage Month
The PCC participates in the celebration of the Philippine Heritage Month of June, including in the commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day – June 12, spearheaded by the Philippine Independence Committee of the Ottawa Valley (PICOV).
Paskong Pinoy sa Ottawa (Filipino Christmas in Ottawa)
An all-Filipino-Canadian musical theater production - from the writers, producers, director, choreographers, and cast - performed at the National Arts Centre. The PCC promoted the event and supported it through ticket sales across its network.
PINTIGAN
An all-Filipino-Canadian creative dance group showcasing their talent and creativity through performances in key cities across Canada. The PCC promoted and hosted their performance at the Arts Court in Ottawa. PCC’s support was made possible through the funding support of Canadian Heritage.
MultiCulturalism Day
The PCC promotes and celebrates the Canada-wide MultiCulturalism Day held annually on June 27.
Advocacy, Linkages and Networking
To convene the Filipino-Canadian community to discuss and take action when necessary on issues that impact on the community, and link and network with other organizations that may support the objectives and mission of the PCC.
In 2026, the PCC participated in the pre-budget consultation, an initiative by Filipino nonprofits to gather views, ideas, and recommendations from the Filipino community across Canada that may inform the federal budget FY 2027-2028.
Funding Support
To provide funding support to group initiatives from the Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa whose objectives and activities align with the vision and mission of the PCC.
Ugnayan Fund
A PCC fund established to support group initiatives from the Filipino-Canadian community. Groups so far funded were Anakbayan, Carleton University Filipino Students Association (CUFSA), Kabangka, and Migrante.
Support to Pinoys on Parliament
Funding support given to Filipino-Canadian youth across Canada in organizing and holding Pinoys in Parliament annually.
Emergency Assistance & Community Support
Community Support Program (Salamat box)
Assistance given to Filipino-Canadian seniors, frontline and essential workers, caregivers in Ottawa who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19 economically, socially, and mentally by providing them with care and food packages (popularly referred to as Salamat boxes), and other support activities delivered through a cadre of trained volunteers.
