Cristina Pineda hails from Manila. She completed her master’s Certificate in Project Management from Carleton University Sprott Professional Programs (2013); her master’s degree in Program and Project Management from the Asian Institute of Management; and a bachelor’s degree in business administration major in Economics from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila PLM). 

Since graduating from university, she worked for almost 15 years in community development with international organizations Norfil Foundation and CARE and in official development assistance (ODA) with AusAID, USAID, and the former CIDA in the Philippines.

Before migrating to Canada, she moved to Beijing, People’s Republic of China to join her husband in his CIDA posting and in Guyana, Barbados and Suriname.  She worked as an independent consultant with Oxfam-GB; UNDP; and the Delegation of the European Union in Georgetown, Guyana.  In Canada, Cristina worked with the National Organization for Immigrant and Visible Minority Women in Canada (NOIVMWC); the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations (NCCAR); and Forum of Federations.

Cristina retired from the government of Canada in September 2025 after almost 20 years of cumulative service in international development in the Africa, Asia, and Americas international assistance programs, and in the pan-geographic planning and analysis division.
