Therese Bitanga-Almaden

SECRETARY

Originally from Davao City, Philippines, Therese is proud of her Filipino heritage and grateful to be part of the vibrant Filipino-Canadian community in Ottawa. She is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, earning a degree in Accountancy before beginning her professional career and eventually making Canada her home. While Canada has provided countless opportunities for Therese and her family, she has always valued staying connected with her Filipino roots and giving back to the community.

Therese is married and a proud parent of one son. Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, cheering on her son as he plays hockey as a goalie, watching movies, travelling, and enjoying cottage life whenever her family has the opportunity.

Professionally, she has built her career in governance, finance, internal audit, risk management, and organizational performance within the public sector. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Philippines, a Chartered Professional Accountant-Certified General Accountant (CPA-CGA) in Canada, and also holds the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designations.

Therese is honored to serve on the PCC Board and to contribute to its vision of building a strong Filipino-Canadian community that helps create a better Canada. She looks forward to supporting PCC’s mission of engaging, enabling, and empowering Filipino-Canadians, while celebrating Filipino heritage, fostering meaningful connections, and creating opportunities for future generations to remain proud of their Filipino identity and culture.
